Position Overview

Do you have an interest in Science? Do you possess a spark for learning new things? Do you want to build your own skills while learning to help others?

Science Centre Singapore’s Gallery Experience (GEX) department can offer you an enriched learning environment where you can explore science, gain job skills, and learn how to work with people you might not otherwise meet. As a Science Explainer, you have the important responsibility of being the Centre’s primary point of contact with guests. You will communicate key scientific concepts to guests and engage guests while interacting with them at exhibitions and interactive activity stations around the Centre.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Greet and orientate guests and assist to answer queries.
  • Interact with guests to enrich their experience.
  • Facilitate station activities in the galleries and perform scientific demonstrations to engage guests.
  • Assist Science Educators in the conduct of live shows and even performing (simple) live shows.
  • Work with Science Educators to design new activities, shows and events etc.
  • Perform any other ad-hoc duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

Candidates must:

  • Be between 16 and 25 years old.
  • Have good communication skills and be fluent in English.
  • Be curious, mature, open-minded, and eager to learn more about Science. 
  • Possess a strong desire to work with people.
  • Should preferably be able to commit for the duration of 11 months.
  • Be committed to working a minimum of 1 weekend day (Sat or Sun) every 2 weeks.
  • Work on some weekends and public holidays (on rotational basis)
